  • LtCol USMC retired. Served for 22 years as an AH-1 helicopter pilot. Earned single mission Air Medal with combat V, and Meritorious Service medal. Participated in Operation Urgent Fury in Grenada, peacekeeping operations in Beruit Lebanon, and Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Served on the JCS J-7 staff observing combatant command level operations. Retired to Southside, Virginia after 14 years in the private sector. Served as President of three non profits and currently active President of Cultural Heritage Remembrance In Southside Team, dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of Southside, Virginia. Author of three books on Christian themes of faith, hope and love: “Feed My Sheep,” “A Time For Hope,” and “An Age For Faith.” Father of three boys and grandfather of three, married for 45 years to a native of Virginia, Elizabeth Baker Boyd Gielow.
