Nominator's thoughts on what would make this nominee a valuable member of a future Trump Unity Government
1) Wes is highly competent - he is a top-tier young academic who has helped procure millions of dollars in funding for his labs when he was in his 20s. His first publication was in PNAS, one of the top academic journals in the world. In his early 30s he won an international grant in Korea, equivalent to an R01 in America, which is 10 years earlier than the average STEM professor in America. He speaks English, German, Japanese, and Korean, and is an accomplished autodidactic algorithm programmer. He has worked in the pharmaceutical industry after graduating with his PhD from UCLA, the #1 public university in the world, where his dissertation was a blend of cutting-edge neurophysics and addiction biology. Wesley is a classic polymath due to his expertise across multiple disciplines: Molecular biology, neuroimaging, computer algorithm coding, physiology, behavior, pharmacology, immunology, language and history, and even music (having written 3 albums). It would be extremely difficult to find a more competent multidisciplinary scientist who has experience in the breadth of roles and locations at his age.
2) Wes is honest to a fault. He doesnt stand on pretense and is willing to lose financial opportunities to speak truth in the face of losing everything. He turned his back on the pharmaceutical industry even after going from a penniless post-doc to making a six-figure salary in industry after his PhD.
3) Wes respects the basic human dignity of everyone and is willing to fight to the end in order to see that no one has to suffer the same fate as those who endured human experimentation at the hands of the Nazis in concentration camps due to Mengele, or under the cruel rule of the Japanese at Unit-731. Basic manners and respect is fundamental, but Wes will never respect those who stepped on inalienable rights in the name of big pharma payouts.
4) Wes has integrity - marrying early and coming from the midwest (Iowa), where only a handful of his peers went to college, and *none* became doctors or scientists, his fundamental moral compass is of an earnest Midwestern youth, who just wants to ensure the America he grew up with can endure in healthy generations to come.
5) Wes has the courage to speak truth (see honesty, above) in the face of a system that blacklists, deplatforms, and takes away chances at any lucrative career.
6) Wes has a proven peer-reviewed publication record and has written *megabytes* of algorithms. Wes has worked at top tier institutes in the USA and in Korea. His credentials, at his age, are implicit proof of his high competence and ability to perform.
