Policies which the nominator knows the nominee supports or in which they have expertise:
I have been involved in politics since 1976 when I first ran for US Congress in MA6. We won 43% on a minimal budget against a strong Democratic incumbent. In 1978 we won 46.5%. In 1984 in GA7, I won 45% of the vote in a heavily Democratic district at that time. I was criticized in the press for suggesting a Sense of Congress Resolution that the public schools could offer courses in religion generally and the Bible in particular if they abided by court decisions that required that the material be treated objectively with no efforts to proselytize. The negative publicity probably cost me the election. Now 40 years later I have created a curriculum that meets the guidelines that have been endorsed by many different religious groups and the guidelines that we followed were even endorsed by the ACLU. So concerns of school districts regarding litigation should be minimal.
Nominator's thoughts on what would make this nominee a valuable member of a future Trump Unity Government
1) Is Competent ...successful involvement in aviation, education, and academics
2) Is Honest...Ive tried to practiced the principles of the Boy Scout Law since my youth.
3) Is Respectful ...I respect the principles of our Bill of Rights and campaigned for them publicly six times.
4) Has Integrity ...I have stood by my principles even when it cost me votes.
5) Has Courage ...I have run for US Congress 6 times against incumbents and nearly won despite being outspent 10 to 1. You might add persistence.
6) Has a Proven Record... 25 years as a pilot for Delta Airlines, 3 graduate degrees, six competitive Congressional races, 6 years as President of Enlighten Education Co-op, inc. directing our team in efforts to improve public education. See our website: www.EnlightenEducationCo-op.org for more details. I recently produced a 3 part curriculum posted on our website that includes a Survey of Comparative Religions, A Survey of the Old Testament Literature, and A Survey of New Testament literature. The curriculum meets the guidelines of the courts regarding the separation of church and state by having a secular purpose and neither promotes nor denigrates any particular religion. We believe that public school students need to be free to study and discuss without prejudice from their teachers religious ideas that have traditionally been the source of morality, compassion, and freedom. We also believe that the lack of such discussions has not served our communities well. As long as the material is presented objectively without attempts at persuasion, we believe students will enjoy exploring the great issues of the ages and find their own meaning in life. I would find it a privilege to help navigate this sensitive territory with any school districts that needed advice or consulting services to implement our curriculum or others that do not violate the principles set by the courts.
