As a nominee, how can I share my CV or resume as a link?

There are a few ways you can do this:

  1. If it’s already online on a web site or on LinkedIn, this is easiest to share this link on your Nomination profile on Nominees for the People…

B) If you do not have the document on a web site, but you do have a Word document or PDF on your hard drive, here is one way (another is using Dropbox) to turn it into a URL and email it to [email protected] to ask for it to be added to your nomination profile:

  1. Go to your Google Drive and go to + New in the upper left hand corner
  2. Select File upload, and you can then select the PDF from your hard drive.
  3. Once uploaded into the Google drive, you can then go to the person + icon to the right of the location to Share.
  4. In the Share popup window, under General Access, on the bottom left, select “Anyone with the link” and on the right, select Viewer as their role.
  5. Then, select “Copy Link” on the lower left and you have your shareable url. However, it is likely to be a long URL of over 80 characters like this for Dion Powell:

To get a shorter, more user-friendly URL, you can go to https://tinyurl.com/

  • Copy and paste your long url on the top box.
  • Enter an alias (e.g., meaningful words like the person’s name and type of document) in the box to the right of tinyurl. You can use dashes like this - but not underscores like _.
  • The end result will be a shorter, custom link which you can the copy like for this bio:
  • Dion Political BIO 2024.pdf - Google Drive
  • You can then copy and paste this link into an email to send to [email protected].

C) Finally, as a last resort but much harder for any end user (e.g., potential evaluator or vetter working for the transition teams for the Trump administration) to easily access, if you have trouble creating a link, the system allows you to attach a PDF document in a comment reply to the original nomination.

  • To do this, hit Reply after the end of your nomination profile.
  • The icon for uploading documents is the sixth icon from the left that looks like a picture of a mountain and a sun, just to the left of the bullet list icon. Clicking on it will direct you to your hard drive where you can find and select your document.

Any nominee that cannot create a hyperlink is immediately disqualified. Basic shit. NEXT!

Your statement, “Any nominee that cannot create a hyperlink is immediately disqualified” is not accurate. Nominees for the People is a resource for those on the transition teams to use to source candidates and then if they would like, to vet them. They may find sufficient information in the nomination profile to interest them without a linked resume.

I’d love to interview the nominee that is qualified but can’t upload and share a resume or CV in 2024. I’m sure it would be eye opening.

Out of curiosity, what are the perceived chances for individuals who sent applications not publicized compared to those who were publicized? Will they be weighed the same or will there be a difference in how the two are handled?

You missed the point.
You cited purpose, @JJMaxwell cited competency.
If someone is not technologically literate enough to handle creation of a hyperlink, then WHY ARE THEY ON A DISCOURSE FORUM?
Basically, the comment is, “If you are incompetent and cannot work the platform, you have no business being a nominee for a potentially significant position in the US government.”
