Dr. Mattmann was offered the position of Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer at ARPA-H before turning it down in May 2024, as he left government and went on to be the Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Officer at UCLA. Mattmann was Chief Technology and Innovation Officer (CTIO) at NASA JPL for 24 years. He is skilled in government policy, working in and out of the government, and has built up a following of data scientists, and AI professionals and practitioners across health, space, science, and is a world known expert.

Dr. Mattmann went on a large weight loss journey of nearly 100 lbs from 2018-2020, changing to a keto diet with his wife and running around the Rose Bowl. He knows that people are being poisoned with the food we eat, and he wants to help RFK and President Trump make america healthy again. He knows a ton about DARPA and ARPA-H and wants to return to government to lead the ARPA-H agency.
