I'd like to be in charge of the department of education.

The first thing I would need to do is learn more about the purpose and function of the department of education. But the DoEd should be something like NIST, but for education standards and research. America's education is behind and it shouldn't be. We have amazing physicists, mathematicians, engineers, artists, singers, economy, military, but somehow despite all that our education is pretty rough. I can certainly fix this. I'd analyze what we're currently doing in Kindergarten through University and figure out what we should be doing and then implement such change or report those findings to congress where relevant bills can be passed.
