Dr. Poe has 26 years of business experience and earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Technology Management from Indiana State University. She has, also, earned her M.A. Theological Studies from Liberty University, M.S. Information Systems from Virginia Commonwealth University, B.S. Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University, and B.S. Information Systems from Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Poe is a full-time professor of Information Systems and Cyber Security at Longwood University with research in areas such as biometrics, software quality in rapid delivery methodologies, pedagogy, and others. In addition to her position at Longwood University, Dr. Poe owns and operates an IT Consulting firm where she has done work for many public and private sector clients, recently earning accolades from the Commonwealth of Virginia for her leadership on the Rebuild VA grant program, which provided $525M in grants for small businesses impacted by statewide government shutdowns. She supports policies in generating and supporting small business, advocating for personal liberties, supporting law enforcement for creating safe communities, and ensuring the responsible use of technology. She has experience with local level governing as a Councilwoman for Colonial Heights, Virginia.

Dr. Poe is an extremely accomplished businesswoman, professor, entrepreneur, and local elected official. She has taught cyber security courses domestically and internationally and has worked on novel research initiatives on biometrics, fraud, software quality, and pedagogy practices. Dr. Poe exemplifies honesty, transparency, respect, and integrity in all aspects of her life. She stands for what she believes is moral and just despite external pressures, which can be seen in her role with Colonial Heights City Council when conducting interviews from victims of misconduct by the former police chief and providing the collected data to the SBI. It took significant courage to stand up for justice, and she is a great example of moral courage in her daily life. Dr. Poe, also, volunteers on a task force to identify victims of human trafficking and provide the information to law enforcement. Her commitment to the community extends beyond just her city, to her state, and to the nation. She has proven results as a professor with positive student reviews and research in academic journals. Additionally, she has worked with public sector clients in her consulting engagements and played an instrumental role in the Rebuild VA grant program as well as working on the Department of Veteran's Affairs contact information database. She has worked with organizations to transform their methodologies and helped the senior leaders of the organizations create and develop teams, create roadmaps, train teams, and implement the new methodologies.
