Agency or agencies for which nominator feels nominee is best suited:
Organization name(s) and position(s) for which nominator feels nominee is best suited:
Leaders bring me in to execute strategy, distill complexity into clear alternatives, operate with radical candor and integrity, and implement common sense... "Copy and paste" what works with humility, nonpartisan open-mindedness, and "no excuses" persistence to get things done ASAP.
Policies which the nominator knows the nominee supports or in which they have expertise:
Steve has been working in regulated banking (retail, commercial, investment) and and finance (asset management, crypto) most of his career across USA and Asia-Pacific. Steve began writing on issues of taxation, deregulation and economics since 2001. Steve's strength is his breadth of knowledge and ability to synthesize diverse topics/stakeholders and work across complex orgs to solve hard problems, get buy-in and get things done.
Nominator's thoughts on what would make this nominee a valuable member of a future Trump Unity Government
1) Is Competent. Steve is broadly skilled and keeps learning new things. He was brought into organizations by executives who knew they could rely on him to execute. Steve has the confidence and humility to admit when he is "outside his lane" and lacks expertise. Steve will bring in the right resources to get things done properly without ego.
2) Is Honest. Steve is "radically candid", cutting through jargon and euphemisms to lay out issues in plain English and and recommend approaches. Steve call balls and strikes fairly.
3) Is Respectful. Steve is accustomed to working with people who think and vote differently. Steve has lived and worked in NYC, Dubai, and Hong Kong. Steve has constructive working relationships with literal communists (in China), Democrats, socialists, anarchists, secular Republicans and evangelicals.
4) Has Integrity. Stephen rejoined Morgan Stanley in 2010 for this reason. Staying in Dubai may have been far more lucrative, but the pressures to cut corners were getting intense and tempting. Steve is motivated by doing first class things in a first class way, being a role model for his son and younger family members.
5) Has Courage. Whether it is keeping a cool head while rescuing rookie paddlers in a capsized boat in large waves in the open ocean, or standing firm for what is right when outnumbered in a boardroom.
6) Has a Proven Record. Steve helped preserve Hong Kong's oldest sports club when it was at risk of losing its lease. He helped rebuild the program, especially among the women's teams.
