Agency or agencies for which nominator feels nominee is best suited:

  • Department of The Interior
  • Department of Agriculture

Organization name(s) and position(s) for which nominator feels nominee is best suited:

Director of the Bureau of Land Management Wild Horse & Burro Program

Policies which the nominator knows the nominee supports or in which they have expertise:

Having a background and experience in ranching, science, forestry (logging), wildfire ecology and unparalleled experience with managing free-roaming wild horses, allowed me to connect the dots that show superior policies for natural resource management, especially forest and wildlife management paradigm. My policy suggestions have been taken to action-level, and have since been tested by a 38,000 acre wind-driven wildfire that was successfully stopped before it destroyed the Cascade Siskiyou National Monument on the OR-CA border.

Managing remaining (59,000 per BLM census) wild horses using a proven-piloted program that is cost-effective (save taxpayers over $500-million annually), reducing conflicts with ranching and other public lands stakeholders, and reduces catastrophic wildfires greatly benefits all stakeholders, including taxpayers who always end-up footing the bills for government mismanagement.

Wild horses pose a challenge to federal and state agencies, who spend extraordinary amounts of public funding in their management both on- and off-range. Some populations exist where they are not wanted, and agencies are highly motivated to remove them.

The 501-c-3 nonprofit Wild Horse Fire Brigade already has a source population that could serve as individuals for a government or additional private land pilot studies. Private forestry interests might benefit from hosting horses on their lands for wildfire fuel mitigation. The horses may come at minimal cost, reduce other wildfire mitigation costs, lower fuel loads, and ultimately restore ecosystem function to the landscape. It would seem ultimately fitting if the advocacy for wildlife, horses and forest production industry collaborated with Wild Horse Fire Brigade to lead the way in what could ultimately become one of the most significant solutions to wildfire this century, while at the same time restoring wildlife and ecosystem function to North American landscapes as a conservation co-benefit.

No other agency or nonprofit group has the level of in-depth, comprehensive multi-dimensional hands-on experience with wild horses and their behavioral ecology & ethology in a wilderness ecosystem as the all-volunteer nonprofit Wild Horse Fire Brigade.

Nominator's thoughts on what would make this nominee a valuable member of a future Trump Unity Government

    6) Has a Proven Record... Some of my (Wm. Simpson) achievements were covered in a article written by the Publisher of the Siskiyou News and is online: https://www.siskiyou.news/2024/03/16/how-do-publisher-editors-choose-feature-writers/

Currently serving as the Executive Director and Founder of the all-volunteer nonprofit Wild Horse Fire Brigade, which is the only nonprofit of its kind that has a scalable, proven plan to manage Americas wild horses in a manner that employs a Nature-Based Solution that is humane, cost-effective, and ends the range war between the livestock producers (as well as gas, oil and mineral extractors) and wild horses on public lands. The plan has the support of ELKO COUNTY COMMISSIONERS in NEVADA (by Letter) and many others. ABC NEWS in RENO (https://www.kolotv.com/video/2024/06/13/could-wild-horses-help-prevent-wildfires-one-non-profit-is-making-it-happen/) ran a spot on the Support from counties in Nevada, where the BLM is currently mismanaging 2/3rds of the entire U.S. population of wild horses of 59,000 horses, originally protected by Richard Nixon in 1971 via the Free Roaming Wild Horse and Burro Protection Act.

Oregon State Rep. Court Boice (R-Dist-1 OR) supports Simpsons work and program: NEWS Report: https://www.kdrv.com/video/more-wild-horses-equals-less-fire-fuels/video_8b3c4ab9-9e43-5c6f-ae4b-89351b795ab1.html

  • I cast my vote for the man with the most experience in management of our wild mustangs and burros. It is easy to get fooled by people that say they will look out for the horses bedt interests and no sooner they are selling them out. Captain william b . Simpson wont do that, with his yesrs of experience he truly is the best man that has the horses best interest in mind. Integrity, devotion and dedicated.

I support this nomination. I’ve listened to him interviewed for many years and his ideas make so much sense and we know they work from his own experience. He has never gotten anywhere with BLM. Please nominate him to head up the BLM Wild Horse and Burro Program. He is eminently suited to it.

My family and I have adopted 5 Oregon mustangs since 2005 and live in Southern Oregon. These horses are something special and their history is both majestic and tragic. We need to ensure the original intent of preservation and proper maintenance of this great American icon of the old West for the world to enjoy for centuries to come. I can’t imagine anyone more suited to head up this task than Captain Bill. Trust in America should be placed in those that are rooted to the issue at hand like no other. That is Captain Bill Simpson.

This organization is the perfect model for implementing the natural Ecco system that wildhorses play in the natural order. Removing them is a devastating link to that. Wildfire Brigades messaging is spot on and scientifically proven. Their work is critical in educating and preventing wildfires. Not to mention the value in these majestic animals have.

William E. Simpson II’s experience and common sense approach to protect our native horses who evolved on the North American Continent will restore the natural ecology. Wild Horses are part of primal ecological web of species that include grizzly, wolf, big cats, and avian species among others. Cattle and sheep did not evolve on the North American continent. Cattle are from Asia and sheep evolved in the Middle East. Wild horses are from America and co-create the bio-diversity and ecological balance of this continent. They are being scapegoated by the cattle and livestock industry who falsely claim that Wild Horses are the destructors of the environment with their overpopulation. There is no science behind the BLM outdated persecution of the Wild Horse. In fact scientists refute this claim by the BLM. Wild Horse’s currently have few natural predators (other than roundups and incarceration). If we allow the balance of nature to be restored, and allow the wild horses to play their primary role in our ecology, the Chronic Wasting Disease that is plaguing the wild elk and deer in North American would not be prevelant (this disease - CWD prion is transferred to humans and a hunter who harvests a diseased deer can be infected). Wild horses are a keystone species and an iconic figure of the North American continent because they belong here in the first place. If we let predators be predators and not destroyed by cattle ranchers we would restore balance and let the Wild Horses continue to benefit our public lands.

So glad to see that the position of BLM Wild Horse and Burro Management is open for a NEW CHAPTER in this nation’s history. Our treatment of these National Treasures has been a stain on our record as a civilized people for a very, very long time. Some may think that this issue is not that important or far-reaching. I would contend that a nation which commits this level of horrific and unnecessary violence to voiceless beautiful creatures is a nation which is corrupting its very own soul.

I am voting for Wm Simpson because he seeks a solution for not only the preservation of the wild equine, but also for THEIR GROWTH! Do not tell me that this enormous land, from sea to shining sea, does not have enough space for these majestic beauties. He does NOT support the barbaric use of sterilization on these animals. Wm Simpson understands the logistics and has solutions in mind that will be win-win-win-win!
