Louis Rossmann need to be part of the technology cabinet & FTC

Louis Anthony Rossmann is an American independent electronics technician, YouTuber, and right to repair activist. He is the owner and operator of Rossmann Repair Group in Austin, Texas (formerly New York City), a computer repair shop established in 2007 which specializes in logic board-level repair of MacBooks. He also started the Repair Preservation Group, a non-profit organization advocating for the right to repair.

He been trying to fight against tech Giants for the right to repair your own device that you fully paid for. And against company steal your data without your permission.

I will start by saying I already favored Rossmann because I am very familiar with his YouTube content, and it interests me being mostly about technology. He has millions of subscribers for a reason, though. It can’t be overlooked that Rossmann also fights for car mechanics, farmers, and just about any other skilled trade industry that is negatively impacted by proprietary locks and barriers to fixing items. He has lots of experience in this and other aspects of consumer protection rights through the multiple laws he has helped get passed in various states to the benefit of consumers and independent business owners in the device/vehicle repair trades.

He also has created the Repair Preservation Group https://fighttorepair.org/

Rossmann’s YouTube channel dives into a lot of various topics where you can see more about his contributions to the Right to Repair movement and where he points out many other consumer protection issues that are prevalent in our current economy.

As a small biz owner and fellow repair enthusiast, I believe Louis is one of the brightest and most passionate voices about protecting personal rights, including the right to repair your own property, and fighting corporate greed.

He would be one of the best representatives, having fought these battles in Washington already.

Me too! This guy is the GOAT when it comes to technical repair and how law should support. It would be a wild time if Louis actually had power. He’s a leader that we need as he understand the technology that we all live with. He’ll have my vote!

On behalf of technology itself, it would be a disservice to the American people not to get this man into office.

True servants will sacrifice anything to serve the public. Louis has already done that with his channel spreading great info for consumers. He is fit for the position purely based on his dedication of personal time to the people, before considering all other qualifications.

Louis Rossmann is not just a YouTube celebrity. He is - without a doubt - the best fit for chairman of the FTC. He has fought tooth and nail for the American people on many fronts, including (but not limited to) advocacy, lobbying, and promoting public awareness. Rossmann will raise hell on behalf of consumers which is exactly what the FTC needs, because as we all know, the FTC as it stands right now is a pathetic embarrassment of consumer protection that has made us a laughingstock overseas. So let’s fix that and lead by example as the best country in the world. Appoint this true patriot to office.

Losing Lina Khan is a crushing blow, but getting Louis Rossmann in ANY capacity into the FTC is urgently needed. It’s genuinely baffling how we’ve gotten to a situation where consumer rights have to be actively protected from Wall Street and the tech oligarchs from clawing every last cent of value from our pockets. We Americans cannot cede any further rights to ownership, arbitration, and basic consumer protections before we get to a point where we’ll never get them back.

I want to own things. I want to make things from open schematics. I want to fix my lawnmower, my car. My phone. My laptop. Poverty is basically impossible to get out of so we have to fix things and hope our washers and dryers, vacuums, computers, cars… EVERYTHING has to last 8-10 years for us unless some massive labor reform happens and suddenly poverty vanishes in one presidential term.

Even if he is not the FTC chair, we need Louis in a position where his strict integrity and tenacity can be useful.
