We are seeking educators who will prioritize our children’s education as the foundation of our nation’s prosperity and leadership. We are seeking nominees who will empower children to thrive by encouraging critical thought and free expression, getting toxins out of school foods, honoring parental choice, and respecting local control. We value those who also champion practical life skills and trades to support what our economy most needs. New submissions are currently paused.
There is nothing more crucial to our country’s well being, prosperity, security, and global leadership than the education of our children. The United States proved during the Cold War that independent thought, debate, and innovation are more powerful drivers of success than top-down control, memorization, and groupthink. President Trump will fight to ensure that our schools reflect this lesson, instilling in American children the capacity for critical thinking, contrarian ideas, independent exploration, and free expression.
Just as the competition of the free market has created unprecedented prosperity in this country, so too must we create a free marketplace of ideas and a free marketplace of education models. Only with the ongoing force of such competition will our schools become again the envy of the world. To facilitate this, the Trump Administration will bolster school choice and charter schools, as well as pushing as much education oversight back to the states and local authorities as possible. They will empower parents as the ultimate arbiter of their children’s needs and moral upbringing. And they will end the pollution of school food with toxic chemicals, processed sugar, and synthetic additives.
President Trump recognizes the role that our national skilled labor shortage plays in our pressing housing and infrastructure crises and is committed to ensuring a renewed focus on trade education and practical life skills throughout K-12 education. In so doing, he will restore our schools’ ability to produce well-rounded and capable adults, with more graduates going on to pursue STEM careers and small business entrepreneurship in the skilled trades. As our country enters the artificial intelligence revolution, these careers will be crucial to our economy and national wellbeing. Finally, the Trump Administration will solve the childcare crisis and boost our GDP by making community-based daycare affordable for all American families, from three months to five years.
She is a former teacher at multiple schools (both public and private), she cares about the children and keeping them safe, she is a Christian and stands up for her values, and she loves the U.S.
I am a Title IX/Civil Rights Officer at the nation’s largest university. I am the foremost expert on informal resolution and restorative practices under Title IX. I am ready to serve our nation’s educational institutions.
As a parent who has children in public school and homeschooled, parents need the maximum amount of choice. I love the idea of education savings accounts used by each parent for each child. I despise my tax dollars automatically going to fund the type of schooling for my kids that is not right for them, preventing me from putting them into private or charter schools. I’d love an opt out option on the taxes that go to public schools if I choose to homeschool or utilize a private school. The money allotted for my kids education should go to the school I choose for them, whether public or private. This system would also encourage excellence from teachers and pay incentives for educators and schools who showcase exceptional quality. Schools should operate more like the free market. Great educators should be rewarded, great schools should be rewarded, and parents should be able to choose where their education tax dollars are going.
Also, 2 birds with one stone: incentivize middle and high schools to have a community garden or green house program. Kids learn about food, where it comes from, form an interest in agriculture, have an opportunity to complete community service hours, and the food grown can be utilized for low income families who struggle to pay for fresh produce, used in the school cafeteria to reduce cost of school lunches, or given to food banks or homeless shelters. MAHA should mean healthy for everyone. This can be done in even urban areas where education on this subject is deficient and can encourage future generations to plant personal gardens.
These are all values I hold as an educator! Please see my nomination profile as well as the additional information I added. I am beyond ecstatic that we are finally seeing an administration that will actually put the American people first, and by default the global population as a leader in responsible capitalism and education. I’m a Conservative scientist (physicist) who has been involved with K-12 educations for 20+ years. My primary focus is to fix the K-12 Science curricula, which has been degraded by NGSS. It’s good that the intro to the Education section brings up Critical Thinking, as that is unquestionably the #1 skill that High School graduates should be taught. Unfortunately, no state is properly emphasizing Critical Thinking! FYI, here is my Report on the profound benefits of being a Critical Thinker. I also write a popular free Substack commentary on Critical Thinking about Societal issues. My email is there for anyone who wishes to correspond.
Homeschoolers make up more than 10% of students now.
Can we please, please get someone to represent our interests in the Department of Education?
Talk to HSLDA, get them to recommend someone. We don’t have some big administration to pull candidates from, but we could really use someone to advocate for us.
I think Ginny Yurich (founder of 1000 Hours Outside) would be a great choice to help with education reform. I don’t know if she personally would be interested in a position with the government but she definitely would have connections to great people who might.
Department of Education has been a disaster from the get go. It was an unconstitutional gift from Jimmuh Cahtuh to public-sector unions. Eliminate it entirely. It’s best left to the states.
I was a homeschooler before I became an educator, and I believe that we need to redesign education and stop bureaucratic red tape for homeschooling families! I have seen firsthand how public schools have slowly started actively promoting certain ideologies, while abandoning principles that were long a bedrock of families and American society. I agree that a Department of Education should have representation for all modalities of education, just as the HHS and FDA should have representation for all modalities of Health! This is a country founded upon the principles of individual choice and freedom, and a governing body should reflect that!
I think that is the end-game, but that requires an act of Congress! In the meanwhile, have the DoEd become reflective of all of American educational forms and best practices, instead of becoming an extension of “educational mercantilism” for Pearson, McGraw-Hill, etc.
Remember, we are not just voting for Cabinet positions (which will likely be appointed to well-known individuals to the President)! There are hundreds of political appointments within each Federal Department as well! I have voted for multiple people within the education category, even though I am in the running! If chosen, I want to work with qualified, like-minded candidates with strengths I may not have to create an amazing team for the betterment of the United States of America!
Whoever is in, please change the education priorities to job preparation and training and life skills education (budgeting, banking, car maintenance, will and probate preparation, sewing essentials, home repair, etc.).
Lily Tang Williams from New Hampshire would be an amazing addition to education. A Chinese immigrant from China who came here and became an amazing human. She studied here at UT Austin and ran unsuccessfully for Senate in NH. I followed her after hearing about her on the clock app. She has such passion for the US and wanting to fix her loved country.
